CHRISTINA A. NGUYEN is a Ph.D. student in the Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Management (TIES) group at the MIT Sloan School of Management, where she is a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and Presidential Fellow. She is also Senior Research Analyst in the Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School and an elected class leader for the Harvard Alumni Association.
Christina previously worked at the White House National Economic Council in the Obama Administration, the Department of Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics and Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and the Institute for Quantitative Social Science. Her research has appeared in JAMA Internal Medicine, JAMA Network Open, and Health Services Research. She has given over 20 presentations, including 14 at the annual research meetings of AcademyHealth and the Eastern Sociological Society, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). Her research has included the development and application of statistical methodology for assessing quality of care and the structure of health care delivery systems in the US (low-income populations, oncology care/workforce, and academic health systems). She has developed and deployed complex multi-step statistical models and machine learning algorithms using large commercial claims, user-generated databases, quality performance data, and national survey responses in Stata, Python, and R. She also has experience in web scraping, simulation, data mining, and robotics.
Christina is also a recipient of the Cordeiro Research Fellowship, Harvard College Research Program Grant, David Rockefeller International Experience Grant, Summer Undergraduate Minority Research Scholarship, and Center on American Political Studies Research Fellowship. She was presented the Quincy House Coat of Arms for stand-out character and leadership to the community, and led a team to the semifinals of the Harvard Business School New Venture Competition for a venture helping providers transition from paper to electronic medical records in developing countries.
Christina holds an A.B. with highest honors (and summa cum laude empirical thesis) from Harvard College, a graduate certificate in Data Science, and an honors certificate from Harvard Business School. She completed her Cordeiro Fellowship in Health Policy at the University of Cambridge.
